Hi! My name is Jessica. I was born and raised in Sweden with a younger sister and brother. I came to the United States as a nanny when I graduated high school and loved New York so much I ended up staying. I went to college and have spent the last 11 years being a teacher. I currently teach first grade and love it!

Becoming a mom has been a life long dream of mine and when it seemed like it wasn't going to happen it was very depressing. The decision to adopt was an easy one to make and when I sit here watching my daughter sleep my heart is overflowing with emotions and there is not one ounce of regret.

This past year has been the best year of my life; filled with new experiences and so much love I can't even put it into words. From being in the delivery room when she was born, to her first tooth, to her first steps, many things have happened in a year. All of these things have made me grow not only as a person but also as a teacher. I have always had a tremendous amount of love for my little first graders and have worked really hard to guide them to become the best students and people they can be. Being a mom has only made it that much more rewarding. Their achievements have taken on a whole new meaning as I now know what it feels like when your child accomplishes something for the first time and the pride and joy that comes with it.

As a person, being a mom has made me appreciate the little things even more and it has reminded me to stop and smell the roses more often. The dishes can wait when your little one comes on wobbly feet with a book in her hand wanting you to read it. The laundry can wait when you just want to steal that extra moment of cuddling.

Being a mom has also made me realize that I want my daughter to have what both my husband and I have, siblings. Watching her interact with other kids and learning about sharing and the love of friends has been wonderful and we want her to know the love of a sibling as well so here we are starting this journey all over again to add to our family.
